All online speaker evenings are $20 (+ booking fee + GST), unless otherwise advertised.

Social Skills with Dr Sarah Wilkes-Gillan

Our August speaker is Dr Sarah Wilkes-Gillan who will be talking about Social Skills on Thursday 28th August 2025 @ 7pm AEST.
Dr. Sarah Wilkes-Gillan is a registered occupational therapist with expertise in pediatric practice. She completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) with First Class Honours (2010) and a PhD (2015) at the University of Sydney.
With over a decade of experience, Dr. Wilkes-Gillan has supported children, their parents, families, and schools, as well as conducted clinical intervention research trials involving children and their families. Her work has primarily focused on children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Dr. Wilkes-Gillan places a strong emphasis on ensuring that children feel valued, connected, understood, confident, and included. Her approach also prioritizes fostering positive parent-child relationships and supporting children’s behavior.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Wilkes-Gillan is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney, where she teaches pediatric units to undergraduate and master’s students and supervises honours and PhD research students. Her research focuses on developing effective interventions to enhance play, social, and communication skills in children with ADHD and ASD.
Passionate about professional development, Dr. Wilkes-Gillan is committed to mentoring and supporting occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and teachers in refining their skills.
As a parent of three young children, Dr. Wilkes-Gillan brings a deep personal understanding of supporting children and families, further enriching her professional practice.
Professionals attending will receive a Certificate of Attendance to help them keep track of their professional development.
