Raising an ADHD Kid Who Can with Dr Heather Tedesco
September 5 @ 10:00 am-11:30 am
Dr. Tedesco has spent years distilling the latest parenting science and best practices to answer the complex question: Based on all that modern science has to offer, what are the most important things I should try to do in raising my kid?
Building from the book Raising a Kid Who Can, a novel reinvention of the parenting book into one that is grounded in the latest science and packed with eminently actionable advice and strategies, Dr. Tedesco will boil down the ten essential things that every child needs to thrive and highlight specific considerations for when a child has ADHD. She will give parents of ADHD kids the confidence to tackle modern kid struggles, such as how to help your child be independent and motivated, what helps (and what doesn’t!) when your child is upset or anxious, how to approach technology, and how to prepare your kids for a lifetime of adaptability.
Heather Tedesco, PhD, is a licensed Applied Psychologist with a PhD in Social Psychology based in McLean Virginia. In her private practice she works exclusively with parents to help them raise kids who can thrive while making parenting less stressful, more effective, and more enjoyable. Her specialty is simplifying the science into strategies parents can use right away and giving parents clarity and confidence in what to do and how to do it. She is the go-to parenting resource for many leading Washington DC-area medical and mental health practices, the co-author along with Dr. Catherine McCarthy and Jennifer Weaver of the book Raising a Kid Who Can, and a sought-after speaker for schools, community organizations, and businesses.
