What is educational and developmental psychology?

Educational and developmental psychology is the study of how people learn, behave and develop throughout life. It involves not just the learning process of early childhood and adolescence but includes the social, emotional, and cognitive processes that are involved in learning throughout life.

Educational and developmental psychology includes school based learning. It also includes behaviour and behavioural problems, early intervention, life transitions, early development, neurodevelopment, geriatric psychology, and high prevalent mood and anxiety problems.

The Level Up Psychology team are experienced working with children, adolescents and young adults. We are all capable of psychological assessment and counselling for common concerns. We are all familiar with a wide range of educational, cognitive and social-emotional behavioural assessment tools for testing and diagnosis, useful in the diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, SLD such as Dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. Also ID.

We use technology to track and adapt the effectiveness of our therapy and are a generally a paperless clinic to provide a more engaging and efficient process. We use Virtual Reality (VR) in our treatment of anxiety and phobias, and support research related to the assessment and support of neurodiverse individuals and integrate those findings into our work.
