Dr Natalia Rusnac Clinical Psychology
I am a Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in providing neurodiversity-affirming psychotherapy to autistic and ADHD adults. Coping well is not the same as being happy. My aim is to go beyond coping and help neurodivergent people access their potential, so that they can build a vibrant life that suits their neurotype. I typically combine several evidence-based therapy modalities to design a treatment plan that is carefully tailored to the person’s neurotype, goals and capacity in terms of available energy. I aim to foster agency and transparency over the therapy process by discussing early in therapy our mutual expectations and creating in collaboration with my client a road map of the different stages of the treatment. The main modalities I utilise are Schema Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I tend to work with my clients at a deeper level, by exploring the emotions and unmet needs underlying their issues, as well as processing past trauma if the person wishes to do so. Due to my dual background in neuroscience and psychology, I enjoy drawing from neuroscience research to offer education, practical strategies for executive functioning support, as well as mind-body tools (e.g., breathwork, movement) to help soothe and regulate the nervous system. As part of post-identification / post-diagnosis support, I can also recommend some of my favourite books and podcasts. I feel strongly about honouring the intersectionality between neurodivergence and other aspects of one’s identity. My commitment is to provide a safe space for people of all cultures, neurotypes, physical abilities, health status, gender identities, sexualities and relationship styles. I am a sex positive and sex-worker positive psychologist.
